Area chair: Dr. Suraj Kothari

Research highlights, 2004 (pdf)

The software systems group is engaged in research and educational activities in the following areas:

  • parallel computing
  • bioinformatics
  • software engineering
  • real-time systems
  • multimedia systems and networks
  • real-time embedded systems
  • distributed computing and security
  • middleware

The group is involved in several interdisciplinary research projects with focus on computational science and computational biology.

The group conducts leading edge research in software modeling, design and verification, parallel and distributed computing, and automated software analysis and synthesis.

This research is providing enabling software technologies for important and diverse applications such as gene identification and software enable control for UAV.

The current external funding for the group comes form NSF, ONR, IBM, Lockheed Martin, Procter and Gamble, Integrated DNA Technologies, Power Systems Engineering REsearch Center, Rockwell Collings, QCS Corporation, and SUN.

The group currently has 18 Ph.D., 20 M.S. and 7 undergraduate research assistants.
